SECRETARY’S REPORT:  Gary thought it was  an errorless minute report last month, until Earl Strickland raised his hand.  It seems the contribution last month to the scholarship fund was by the membership of  the Country Club of Orange Park, not the Men’s Assoc.  Thank you, Earl!!!

VICE PRES. OF TOURNAMENTS:  Joe Power asked Larry Dismore for an update on the Father’s Day Tournament.  Larry said they were all set for next weekend.

Bob Streightiff gave an update on the upcoming Amateur Tournament, saying he has only 31 qualifiers now.  Due to lack of response, the qualifier may be cancelled.  Bob still need two more volunteers for Sat. and Sunday, the 24th and 25th of July.

Lee Crowe reported on the upcoming 2-man at San Jose.

Joe said we still need more volunteers for the Junior Tournament at Eagle Landing, August 9th and 10th.

Joe explained the reason the board’s vote to raise the maximum quota to 46 points.  As he said, it’s all relative.

Pat Caffrey asked that when we sign up for  golf, please include your handicap index so he won’t have to look it up.

VICE PRES. OF ADMINISTRATION:  Bob Streightiff reminded us of next month’s meeting at Queen’s Harbour on July 13th.  He also talked about the possibility of having meetings in the afternoon and golf in  the a.m., just in the summer time.  Possibility for next summer.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE:  Tom asked if there were any more scholarship applications, since today is the deadline.

Bob Streightiff presented a check for $1,000 to the scholarship fund from Queen’s Harbour Men’s Golf Assn.

OLD BUSINESS:  Pres. Jim explained the PayPal credit card issue and the 6 point motion that was  accepted by the Board of Directors.  The use of PayPal  is scheduled to begin next month.

NEW BUSINESS:  Fred Seely  said his group will start  up a new golf publication soon.  More information to follow.  The name will be “Golf Jacksonville, Plus”.  Early Sept. is their target start up date.  It will cover not only golf; but, other sports as well.

Pres. Jim  said he, Lee Crowe and Jim Andrews are the nominating board for new officers and to let him know of anyone interested in becoming an officer.

GUEST SPEAKER:   Fred Seely introduced Cole Pepper, our guest speaker.  Cole is the studio host for Jaguars Radio.  Cole said he is now working full time for the Jaguars.  He discussed season ticket holders, saying the Jaguars are more aggressive this year in their marketing, and are striving to give more value.  He also discussed the possibility of the team leaving our area, saying it would be worse for Jacksonville if the team left than if they had never been here.  “People are showing by increased ticket sales that these are vital times. Do we want to keep the team here?”

Cole opened up the meeting to a Q and  A period.  Questions varied from discussing players pay to better half time shows.
