Thanks Lee for your past, present and future service to JAGA.

Old Business – None

New Business – Miles King suggested that thought be given to planning JAGA events on non-consecutive days. A 2-man event followed the next day with a Directors meeting and golf can be rather fatiguing.

Guest Speaker - Steve Wyand deserves our special thanks and congratulations for his persistence and success in getting Jim Furyk to be our Guest Speaker this month. Steve presented a thorough description of Jim Furyk’s career statistics and accomplishments. Mr. Furyk’s 2008 Ryder Cup success was not only a special treat to all of us, but especially to Steve who was able to “be there” and experience the “most organized event ever attended”.  Jim Furyk was the most interesting, down to earth guest that most JAGA directors have experienced. Fresh from a visit to his four year old son’s preschool, we learned that the 15th year veteran has his bag filled with a Driver, 3-wood, hybrid, four wedges and five irons (5 through 9) that vary by 4 degrees. His favorite club is a 60 degree wedge which he needs to replace some two to three times per year. Jim plays with and tests Srixon equipment (as per contract endorsement). He goes through shoes at a rate of three pair per month. “Fluff” has been his caddy for the past 10 years and hopefully will be there for an additional five years. Advances in technology have brought about changes to Drivers and balls that are very significant. The typical week is extremely busy (assuming you play through Sunday) with little time for laundry. Pre-play routines start about two hours before tee time and include warm up, weights, physical therapist visit and a light lunch. One hour before starts with 30 minutes of hitting balls, 15 minutes of putting, bathroom and at the tee 10 minutes before. Noon tee times complicate one’s eating routine. You just have to work eating in as best you can. Once out on the course and competing, Jim keeps his eye on the leader board. One must be very aware of the need or lack of need to risk. Jim is 100% behind drug testing but admits that it can be a bit time consuming if you are 3rd or 4th in line for testing. Each individual testing process takes 10 to 15 minutes. What is his favorite event?  The Ryder Cup!  Jim Furyk stayed for picture taking, signed autographs, answered individuals questions and was seen talking with Windsor Parke employees as we began our post-meeting round of golf. Thank you Jim Furyk for attending our JAGA directors meeting.

Pairings Coordinator, Russell Hamilton - Pairing sheets and team make up were printed and distributed. Check carts for your hole assignment.

The Blessing for Lunch was given by Earl Kelly.
