Directors Meeting
Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club
May 16, 2006

 

Vice President, Lee Crowe, called the meeting to order in Jim Andrews’s absence at 10:30 A.M. with 42 Directors and guests present.  The Directors introduced themselves and their guests. Joe Wyzkoski, General Manager, welcomed us to the club and informed us of the changes made in the last two years.

Secretary, Bob Streightiff’s minutes from the last meeting at Hidden Hills CC were approved as posted on the web site.

Lee Crowe reported for Treasurer, Jerry Kay, a treasury balance of $7,412.00 with all bills paid.

Vice President-Administration, Lee Crowe, informed us Deerwood Country Club will host the next meeting on June 19th. Club professionals and general managers are invited and the directors should make all reservations on the web site. He thanked Al Levine, Ed Tormollen and Bill Black for their assistance at the Two Man Tournament at Fleming Island Golf club. A contribution of $700.00 was made to the scholarship fund from this tournament. Lee also thanked Chad Luccovsky for Golf News support of JAGA. He then read a thank you note from the LGA at Deerwood CC for the JAGA ball markers donated for a tournament.

Vice President-Tournaments, Jim Edwards, asked for reports from the tournament chairmen.  Lee Crowe reminded us the final two man event is at Timuquana Country Club. Barney Poston reminded us the Father’s Day tournament will be a Modified Pinehurst event on June 24 & 25 at Hidden Hills CC. Don Haws indicated that the 2006 City Amateur will be held at Marsh Landing CC and Deerwood Country Club July 13-16, 2006. The field is limited to 60 players and an awards luncheon will follow on Sunday. Jim indicated the fee for next year’s meetings will probably be increased to $50.00.

Scholarship Chair, Tom Tierney, indicated all applications should be in his hands now.  A contribution to the trust was received from Jacksonville Beach Golf Club for $750.00. Tom also read a letter from Vicky Cummings, a previous scholarship recipient, thanking JAGA for their scholarship program.

New Business

Earl Kelley, JAGA Historian, gave an explanation of the origin of the JAGA Scholarship Fund, which was established on September 18, 1973 with $650.00.

Tommy Miller was our guest speaker once again and he entertained the group with interesting anecdotes from the PGA and Champions Tours. Tommy is caddying for Lanny Watkins at present on the Champions tour.

Pairings Coordinator, Ed Tormollen, announced the pairings for the players were posted on the golf carts.

The meeting adjourned at 11:28 A.M.
