Jacksonville Area Golf Association
Directors Meeting
Queen’s Harbour Yacht & CC
March 21, 2006

President, Jim Andrews called the meeting to order at 10:28 A.M. with 51 Directors and guests present.  The Directors introduced themselves and their guests. Jack Aschenbach, Head Professional, welcomed us to the club and commented on the golf course.

Secretary, Bob Streightiff’s minutes from the last meeting at The Golf Club at Fleming Island were approved as posted on the web site.

Treasurer, Jerry Kay reported a treasury balance of $6,995.58 with all bills paid.

Vice President-Administration, Lee Crowe thanked Bob Streightiff and Queen’s Harbour Yacht & CC for hosting the meeting.  He informed us Hidden Hills CC will host April’s meeting and Golf News will sponsor the meeting. Fred Seely indicated door prizes will only be given to Directors who register by the Thursday deadline prior to the meeting. Fred also is arranging for a guest speaker at the meeting.

In the absence of Vice President-Tournaments, Jim Edwards, Lee Crowe asked for reports from the tournament chairmen.  Lee reported the first Two Man tournament at Deerwood CC was a big success. 52 teams played in the event and half the field received prizes. He thanked Al Levene, Ed Tormollen, Al Miller and Bill Black for their support and presented a check for $700 to the scholarship fund. The second two man event is already half full.  Joe Power indicated the Senior Championship will be at Eagle Harbor on April 3-5, 2006 and he has 44 entries thus far.  March 31, 2006 is the sign-up deadline. Barney Poston reminded us the Father’s Day tournament will be a Modified Pinehurst event on June 24 & 25 at Hidden Hills CC. Al Levene informed us that the Juniors tournament will be at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club on June 27 & 28. He asked the Directors to encourage participation at their respective clubs. Don Haws indicated that the 2006 City Amateur will be held at Marsh Landing CC and Deerwood Country Club July 13-16, 2006. He once again asked all directors to secure a list of the top 10 golfers from their club according to handicap index and e-mail it to him.

There wasn’t a Scholarship report due to Tom Tierney’s absence.  A contribution to the trust was received from The Plantation at Ponte Vedra for $4,650.00.  Another contribution was received from Mr. and Mrs. Jan Butensky for $100.00 in memory of Mr. Andrew Rindfleisch.

Old Business

Ed Witten reminded the Directors that he has shirts available.

Al Miller informed us that one of our scholarship recipients was the employee of the month in February at Deerwood CC.

Jerry Kay commented on delinquent clubs and indicated that 2007 dues invoices will be mailed in December 2006 rather than October.

New Business

Al Levene suggested we add an indicator in each club’s information on our web site directory which informs you of the handicap system in use at the club. The Directors approved the suggestion and they are responsible for furnishing the information to Barney Poston so he can add it to the JAGA web site.

Lee Crowe asked the Directors to keep Barney Poston informed of any Director who may be ill so Barney can post the information on the web site.

Pairings Coordinator, Ed Tormollen, announced the pairings for the players were posted on the golf carts.

The meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.M.

Respectively submitted,

Bob Streightiff, Secretary
