Jacksonville Area Golf Association Directors Meeting Deercreek Country Club November 21, 2006
Officers Present: Jim Andrews, Bill Black, Lee Crowe, Jim Edwards, Don Haws, Jerry Kay, Barney Poston, Bob Streightiff, Tom Tierney Officers Absent: None President, Jim Andrews, called the meeting to order at 10:28 A.M. with 52 Directors and guests present. The Directors introduced themselves and their guests. Chris Slattery, Head Professional, welcomed us to the club. Jim thanked Fred Seely and Chad Luccovsky of Golf News for their fine support of JAGA. Acting Secretary, Joe Power’s minutes from the last meeting at Windsor Parke Golf Club were approved. Treasurer, Jerry Kay, reported a treasury balance of $5,087.64 which includes payments for the Pro-President tournament to be held on December 4, 2006. Vice President-Administration, Lee Crowe, acknowledged Jim Andrews tenure as president and presented him with a golf bag. He reminded the directors of January’s meeting to be held at Palencia on the 16th. The field is limited to 52 players and priority will be given to directors first and then guests. Ed Tormollen will also monitor registrations to insure regular attendees at monthly meetings receive preference. The meeting fee will increase to $50.00 next year. Lee also reminded us that the Pro-President tournament will be limited to 32 teams. Vice President-Tournaments, Jim Edwards, thanked all the directors who helped run the tournaments in 2006. Scholarship Chair, Tom Tierney, informed us all checks for students on scholarship this semester have been mailed. Contributions to the trust were received from the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club ($5,100.00), Marsh Landing CC ($500.00), the Deercreek Seniors ($145.00) and $1,000.00 in memory of Andrew Rindfleisch by his parents. Barney Poston asked the directors to insure their club information is up to date on the website. He also reminded them to notify Ed Tormollen if they’re unable to attend a meeting they registered for. Old Business Bart O’Leary reminded the directors to insure their clubs are certified by the USGA for handicap purposes. New Business Past President, Don Haws, presented the slate of 2007 officers who were unanimously elected. Jim Andrews read a thank you letter from a previous scholarship recipient, Richard Francis, who graduated in May 2006. He also thanked all the officers who served in 2006. Tommy Miller gave some comments and answered questions regarding caddying on the pro tours. Pairings Coordinator, Ed Tormollen, announced the pairings for golf were posted on the carts.
