Lee also thanked the Golf News for all their support of JAGA. Vice President-Tournaments, Jim Edwards, asked for reports from the tournament chairs. Barney Poston reported on the Father’s Day Tournament. He indicated 104 players participated and $825.92 was contributed to the scholarship fund. Al Levene reported on the Juniors Tournament to held August 1 & 2 at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. He only has 30 participants thus far due to a conflict with the FSGA Junior Tournament being held on the same days. The Two-Man tournament will be at San Jose CC on October 3, 2005. Don Haws reported that entries for the City Amateur to be held July 21-24 total 54. Steve Wyand asked Jim to capture his comments in print for the Directors to use at their clubs. Jim also asked the Directors to look for corporate sponsors for our tournaments. Carl Arnold commented that the secretary’s minutes for the last year haven’t been comprehensive enough. The secretary isn’t capturing all that transpires at the meetings for historical purposes, according to him. Lee Crowe asked for input from the group and it was suggested that the directors give the secretary a note with information they report on such as scholarship contributions, tourney reports, etc. Also, should there be any errors or omissions in the minutes, Directors have the opportunity to correct them at the next monthly meeting. Barney Poston suggested someone from the executive committee follow up with the World golf Village membership in JAGA and the possibility of holding tournaments at the golf courses. He gave the name of David Shaffer as a contact. Pairings Coordinator, Ed Tormollen, once again for cooperation from the Directors regarding the Thursday deadline for signing up to play golf. It was decided that the Thursday prior to all monthly meetings would be the absolute deadline. No sign ups can be done via telephone after that day. The meeting adjourned at 11:35 A.M. Respectively submitted, Bob Streightiff, Secretary |
