Directors Meeting
Sawgrass Country Club
February 15, 2005
President Jim Andrews called the meeting to order
at 10:27 A.M. with 64 Directors and guests present. Head Professional, Ed
Tucker, welcomed us and made brief comments regarding the golf course. Ed
also mentioned his gratitude for the help a JAGA scholarship provided toward
his education and career. Introductions of all attending Officers, Directors
and their guests were made.
Vice President of Administration, Lee Crowe
introduced guest speakers Mike Lynch and Darren Doer of, Golf Marketing
Concepts, Inc. Their mission is to help golf courses with marketing
decisions, golf outings and connecting golfers to courses. Mike and Darren
offered their services to JAGA through their magazine “Golfer’s Guide” and
their three times weekly TV show. They further explained that they have
4000 golf related email addresses from this area that we may be able to tap
for our purposes.
Secretary, Bob Streightiff’s minutes from the
January, 2005 meeting were approved as posted. Treasurer, Jerry Kay,
reported that the checking account balance is $9,530.40. Jerry read the
list of clubs who had not paid their annual JAGA dues. Directors from the
named clubs were asked to look into the matter.
Tom Tierney, Scholarships, thanked JAGA for his
receipt of the “Red Gossman” service award. He also reported that that we
currently have 24 scholarships working. Three of those scholars have not
reported grades for the last semester and therefore their scholarship
payments are in ‘hold’ status. Jerry Kay presented a check from The
Champions Club's Senior Men's Golf Association in the amount of $200.
Vice President-Tournaments, Jim Edwards, reported
all tournaments have been scheduled, except the Mixed. Tournament Chair,
Joe Power, gave the Senior, Super Senior and Grand Senior Tournament status
which is scheduled for April 4-6, 2005. JAGA Tournament Schedule signs to
be posted in all member clubs were distributed to the Directors.
Vice President-Administration, Lee Crowe, reported
that all the monthly meetings have been scheduled for this year. Next
month’s meeting is March 15th at The Ravines Club & Lodge. Lee
is working on the meeting schedule for 2006.
Arch Copeland distributed name badges to Directors
who had provided him with the information needed on their badge. Barney
Poston gave a brief status of the JAGA web site and requested that Directors
keep him informed of changes to the JAGA Directory. Ed Whitten reported on
the status of the ‘JAGA Corner’ which will be published in Golf News each
month.
Ed Tormollen volunteered to contact all laggard
Member Club’s and Directors in an attempt to get more participation at
meetings and Championship events. Barney Poston is to provide Ed with an
up-to-date list of Member Clubs and Directors.
Pairings Coordinator, Ed Tormollen announced the
pairings for golf.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30 A.M.
