Directors Meeting
Selva Marina Country Club
                                 October 18, 2005                                 

President, Jim Andrews called the meeting to order at 10:30 A.M. with 45 Directors and guests present.  The Directors introduced themselves and their guests. Tim Peterson, Head Professional, welcomed us to Selva Marina CC.

Secretary, Bob Streightiff’s minutes from the last meeting at South Hampton Golf Club were approved as posted on the web site.

Treasurer, Jerry Kay reported a treasury balance of $7,613.93 with all bills paid.

Vice President-Administration, Lee Crowe introduced Chad Lucovsky as the new Account Executive from Golf News and Chad picked Jack Manning’s number as the winner of November’s meeting fee to be paid by Bailey Publishing. Lee informed the Directors that Bill Black is hospitalized once again, but should be back home in a few days.  Next month’s meeting is at Cimarrone Golf Club on November 15, 2005.

Vice President-Tournaments, Jim Edwards, asked for reports from the tournament chairs.  Lee Crowe reported the Two-Man tournament held at San Jose CC on October 3, 2005 was a huge success with 56 teams participating. He thanked Al Levene for his help. Lee indicated next year’s event will be held in the spring and the fall at Timuquana CC and San Jose CC. The tourney generated $600.00 to the scholarship fund. Frank Brough, Mixed Tourney chair, thanked Earl Kelly for his article in the Golf News regarding the history of the Mixed Tournament. Frank reported a lack of entries for the tournament and the golf course isn’t in very good shape. Later in the meeting Jim Andrews informed the Directors that the event is being cancelled this year. Don Haws indicated that the 2006 City Amateur will be held at Marsh Landing CC and Deerwood Country Club July 13-16, 2006. The Pro-President will be held at The Plantation at Ponte Vedra on December 5, 2005 and teams should include the two Directors, Head Professional and an official of the club.

Mike Cooper reported in Tom Tierney’s absence regarding the Scholarship fund. A contribution was received from Eagle Harbor Golf Association ($500.00).

Lee Crowe introduced local sportscaster, David Lamm, of Fox Radio Sports Talk as our guest speaker. Dave talked about the game of golf and had many humorous anecdotes. He urged the group to remember that the game should be fun and enjoy it.
