JAGA DIRECTORS MEETING

 Palatka Golf Club

08/17/2004

President Haws called the meeting to order at 1:20 pm with 30 directors and guests present.  The Palatka Head Professional, Clyde Conner, welcomed us and made a $500.00 donation to the JAGA Scholarship Trust from the Palatka Men’s Golf Association.

Secretary, Jim Edwards, thanked Barney Poston for doing the minutes last month in his absence.  The minutes were approved as posted.

Treasurer, Jerry Kay, advised we had $6,145.64 in the bank.  There are few outstanding bills.  Report approved.

Vice President of Administration, Jim Andrews, next meeting is at Windsor Park on September 21 and the directors voted to try a morning Tee Time one more time if it is available.  We will meet at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club on October 20, Cimarrone Golf Club in November, and the Pro-President will be at Deercreek in December.

Vice President of Tournaments, Lee Crowe, gave an overview of the Bill Black Tournament at Ponte Vedra Ocean Course on September 13th.  We need hole sponsors and door prizes.

Junior Tournament Director, Jim Andrews, advised it has been rescheduled for September 25th and 26th with an 11:30 am Tee Time.

Amateur Tournament Director, Don Haws, advised Ken Moody was the winner.  The tournament next year will be held at the same locations of Selva Marina and Queen’s Harbor.  Thanks to all that helped.

Two Man Director, Frank Brough, advised that as of now it is a ‘no-go’ on September 23rd and 24th at Mill Cove. –No Entries!

Scholarship Chairman, Tom Tierney, advised that JAGA Directors are responsible for their scholarship recipients to fulfill the requirement to receive their scholarship money.  He pointed out the rules on the front page of the application.  Mike Cooper then gave $2,710.00 from the San Jose MGA, Hyde Park MGA gave $3,350.00, John Randle of First Coast Golf gave $135.00.

Old Business

Joe Power advised Eagle Harbor Director, Warren Healy, was ailing.

New Business

Frank Brough advised November 15th is the WGV Hall of Fame induction.  Also, Ravines Golf Club is having a Free Golf Day on Monday August 23rd.  No green fees or cart fees, just a $5.00 donation to the JAGA Scholarship Fund.  Call for Tee Times.

President Haws then opened the floor for discussion of sponsors for our tournaments.  Much discussion and points of interest were made.  The discussion was tabled and put to a committee of Ed Witten, Frank Brough, and our Executive Board.

Bob Streightiff advised Barney Poston needs to know what to do with our website's domain name.  Directors voted to let Barney handle this as he sees fit.

Pairings Coordinator, Bob Streightiff, advised once again how important it is to sign up for Directors Meetings as soon as possible and notify him if you cannot attend.  Please do not call up and ask to play at the last minute.  Don’t show up at a meeting that you have not signed up for and expect to play.  We need an accurate head count for lunch and golf.  Remember, guests are welcome, but we need their handicap index when they are signed up.  Bob thanks you in advance.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jim Edwards
