JAGA DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Cimarrone Golf Club 11/16/2004
President Don Haws called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. with 35 directors and guests in attendance. This was to be the final meeting of JAGA's 50th anniversary year. Introductions were made.
Officer's reports: Treasurer Jerry Kay reported that the bank account balance is $4572.76 with a few bills to be paid. He also offered a set of mailing labels addressed to our member clubs to any officer or director who needs them. See Jerry for more information. Jim Andrews, VP of Administration, reminded the directors that the Pro President event will be held on December 13th. Bill Black reported that there is only one club entered so far. Lee Crowe, VP of Tournaments asked for reports on recent and upcoming events.
Tom Tierney, VP Scholarships asked Dean Blankenship to read a letter of appreciation from one of our scholarship recipients, Kevin Churchill. Kevin was very thankful for our help toward his education. The Deercreek MGA gave $400 to the scholarship fund. The Champions Club's Senior Men's Golf Association donated $200 and the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club's Men's Golf Association gave $5000. New Business: Lee Crowe presented JAGA President Don Haws a golf bag as a token of appreciation for all his hard work in 2003 and 2004. Old Business: Last month the proposed slate of nominees for 2005 JAGA Officers was announced. This month the gathering was asked for additional nominees. None were offered and the proposed slate of officers was elected unanimously. 2005 JAGA Officers will be:
Guest speaker: Jim Andrews introduced our guest speaker, Boots Farley, Head Golf Professional at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. Boots spoke about 30 minutes. He thanked JAGA for the scholarships his two children have received. Then he spoke about change and the need for change as it relates to his course, JAGA and the golfing world in general. Boots was very entertaining and his discussion was enjoyed by all present. The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 AM Respectfully submitted, Barney Poston, Acting Secretary. |
