JAGA DIRECTORS MEETING

President Don Haws opened the meeting to 40 JAGA Directors and guests at 10:37 am. We proceeded directly to our introductions and were greeted by Bob Mans of the Ravines with a $500.00 donation to the scholarship fund.

Jacksonville G&CC Head Pro, Ray Barr, welcomed us and advised we had tee times starting at 12:03 pm.

Treasurer’s report: Jerry Kay – absent.

Secretary, Jim Edwards’ report was approved with a correction of the spelling of last months meeting site- Winsor Parke. My apologies to this wonderful golf facility.

Vice President of Administration, Jim Andrews, advised the date for our Pro-President at Deercreek was incorrect last month and will actually be December 13^th. Our speaker next month will be Boots Farley, Professional at Jax Beach Golf Club on November 16, 2004 at Cimarrone Golf Club. Meeting dates for next year are at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club in January, Sawgrass in February, Pine Lakes in March, Fernandina Beach in April, Queens Harbor in May, June is open, Deerwood in July, August open, South Hampton in September, October and November open.

Discussion on paying more to play clubs like Pablo Creek. Most say they would pay more but Earl Kelly and Don Barker made the point we should not make exceptions.

Vice President of the Tournament, Lee Crowe, announced that Tom Tierney was the chairman for the Mixed Two Ball at Orange Park Country Club on November 27 & 28. We need players. Bill Black explained conflicts on Pro-Pres. dates. It will be on the 13^th, not the 6^th. It will cost $60.00 per player and your Pro, two Directors, President or Officer of  the club are eligible to play. Junior Tournament Chair, Jim Andrews, announced new dates of November 13^th & 14^th at Jax Beach and Ed Tormollen and Al Levene will chair this tournament next year.

President Haws advised Directors that the Executive Board had cancelled the Mid-Am Tournament for next year. Also other recommendations about changing our Four Ball Tournament to a member guest and two day tournaments to one day. All this due to lack of participation. There was much discussion and it was agreed we need more effort and better venues. Earl Kelly pointed out that in 1957 JAGA was put in charge of all championship tournaments. We should only run championship tournaments for the area. Further discussion was then put on  sponsorships for tournaments to enhance them. More research will be needed by the new board.

Old Business: None

New Business: Ed Tormollen brought up the fact we need active Directors. This will be looked into. Also, long time Director from Sawgrass, Mal Sims, past away. Bart O’Leary, Nominating Committee, gave slate of officers for next two years, President, Jim Andrews, Vice President of  Administration, Lee Crowe, Vice President of  Tournaments, Jim Edwards, Secretary, Bob Streightiff, and Treasurer, Jerry Kay. Vote at the next meeting.

Paring Coordinator, Bob Streightiff, gave pairings and tee times.
