| JAGA DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Hidden Hills Country Club 05/25/2004 President Haws opened the meeting at 10:15 A.M. to 90 JAGA Directors, Pros, G.M.’s, and Superintendents. Russ Libby, President/G.M. of Hidden Hills welcomed us and applauded JAGA for our work in running tournaments and providing scholarships. Introductions were deferred. Vice President of Administration, Jim Andrews, introduced our speaker, Mark McCumber, who would be catching a plane to play in the Senior PGA Tournament at Valhalla Golf Club this weekend. Mr. McCumber spoke of his childhood memories of Hyde Park, thanked JAGA for their support of Junior Golf, and for running Youth Tournaments. He spoke of his golf course design business that went with his family business of building courses. He has traveled the world and met with Kings and Presidents all because of golf. He has enjoyed most, the friendships he has made playing golf. President Haws then called for Introductions. Secretary, Jim Edwards, minutes approved. Treasurer, Jerry Kay, $13,510.63 in bank and all bills paid except the Mid-Am Tournament. Vice President of Administration, Jim Andrews, announced next meeting at Marsh Creek Country Club on June 28. Our July meeting will be at the Champions Club on the 20th and Peter Bragan, Jr. will be our speaker. Bill Black, Executive Secretary, is under the weather. President Haws gave report on Mid-Am Tournament at Deercreek. There were 31 players and Larry Lunsford won. Thanks to our volunteers. The City Amateur will be held July 22 through 25 at Selva Marina and Queen’s Harbor Country Clubs. There will be a qualifier at Selva Marina on July 9th. The last day to enter is July 2nd. Need lots of help. Father’s Day Championship Tournament Director, Barney Poston, reported it is at Hidden Hills on June 12th and 13th. It is a two person modified Pinehurst and we have Amateur and Professional Flights. Need Help. Vice President of Tournaments, Lee Crowe, advises the Bill Black Golf Classic will be at Ponte Vedra Ocean Club and will include dinner on Monday September 13th. It will be at 1:00 P.M. Shotgun with a goal to raise $10,000 for our scholarship fund. Junior Tournament Director, Jim Andrews, advised the tournament will be at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club on August 14th and 15th. Scholarship Chairman, Tom Tierny, reported there are 8 scholarships available and he has 12 applications of which 3 are incomplete and not eligible. May 31st is the deadline for applications. Jacksonville Beach MGA donated $1,000 to the scholarship fund. Old Business NONE New Business Vice President of Tournaments, Lee Crowe, advised Edwin Watts is having a raffle. President Haws advised that the Executive Board had approved starting with our June Directors Meeting that if you are not signed up by the Thursday before the meeting to play golf, you will not play unless we have an opening. In Closing, President Haws advised how very important the interaction between G.M.s, Pro’s, Superintendents, and JAGA is to our Golf Industry as a whole.
