JAGA DIRECTORS MEETING

President Don Haws called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. with 54 directors, Past Presidents, and guests present. President Haws introduced Tom Aycock, Head Pro, who welcomed us.
Secretary Jim Edwards’ minutes were approved. All new directors were advised to contact Jim, Barney Poston, and our Pairings Coordinator in order to keep records current.
Treasurer report given by Bill Black reported $9,700 in bank with all bills paid. Bill also gave a list of unpaid members and asked directors for help in collecting dues.
Vice President of Administration, Jim Andrews, announced May meeting on the 25th at Hidden Hills. General Managers, Head Pro, and Course Superintendents invited. Get reservations in early. We also need speakers for future meetings and are trying new communication equipment today.
Vice President of Tournaments, Lee Crowe, gave JAGA hats to all the Past Presidents. Warren Healy, Tournament Chair for the Seniors at Eagle Harbor, reported 83 players played, we paid 41% of the field, and returned $416 to the Treasury. Accolades to Al Levene, Bill Black, and Frank Brough for help.
Tournament Chair, Bill Black, reported on the Mid Amateur at Deercreek on May 14 and 15. President Haws advised we need volunteers and players.
Tournament Chair, Barney Poston, reported on Father’s Day Tournament at Hidden Hills on June 12 and 13. Players needed.
Earl Strickland, Director Orange Park, advised there will be a Hugh McCracken and JAGA Trust Benefit on May 5th at Orange Park C.C. Price is $100 per player.
Scholarship Chairman, Tom Tierney, reported we have 23 scholarship recipients at $1,000 per semester and new applications are due now. Donations made by Queens Harbor MGA for $1,000 and First Coast Golf for $96.

Vice President Andrews introduced Past President Earl Kelly as our Speaker with a history of JAGA. On 04/20/1954 we were the Jacksonville Amateur Golf Association. We became the Jacksonville Area Golf Association in 1966. Our Past Presidents were introduced by President Haws and greatly appreciated. Ed Witten then gave a brief history of our JAGA Charitable Trust, to which Sawgrass Country Club gave a donation of $7,783. Tom Miller gave a testimony on his father, Sonny Miller, a Past President.
Pairings Coordinator, Bob Streightiff, gave the golf pairings for the day.
