Directors Meeting Minutes 01/20/2004 Queens Harbor Yacht and Country Club President
Don Haws--Called the meeting to order to start JAGA’s 50th year
anniversary. There
were approximately 40 directors and guests that attended.
President Haws introduced Stockton Rogers, PGA professional for Queens
Harbor, who spoke to us briefly about the new greens and the condition of the
course. Two
new directors were introduced, Joe Power of Eagle Harbor and John Milton of Mill
Cove. Secretary,
Mike Cooper—Stepping down as Secretary, Jim Edwards has volunteered to assume
these responsibilities.
Minutes of the last meeting are posted on our web site and were approved.
Treasurer,
Jerry Kay--Reported all bills paid and approximately $7,000 in bank.
Report approved. Vice
President of Administration, Jim Andrews--Reported our next meeting will be at
Timuquana Country Club on February 17.
Our March meeting will be at Marsh Landing and our May meeting will
include course superintendents.
Arch Copeland is making name tags for directors and bag tags to be given
out at our tournaments.
This will help put JAGA out front at all of our Jacksonville clubs. Vice
President of Tournaments, Lee Crowe--Handed out our new posters listing dates
and sites for all our tournaments this year.
Our generic entry forms will be ready at our next meeting.
Our first tournament this year is the 47th Seniors on April
5th-7th at Eagle Harbor.
Warren Healey is the Tournament Chairman.
A change in divisions was suggested.
We would have a 50-59 age Senior, 60-69 Super Senior, and 70-above Grand
Senior division.
The suggestion will be looked at and a decision made by our next meeting. Scholarship
Chairman, Tom Tierney--Reported that we have 24 students and he has mailed out
18 checks. He
is sure the other six will find him with their grades.
It was also noted that the Champions Club MGA donated $500.00 and Quail
Heights MGA donated $300.00 to our scholarship fund at the Pro President
Tournament last month. Old
Business-- Ed Witten has shirts and hats for sale. New
Business--Frank Brough reported that the Ravines Golf Club had a new local
owner. Jim
Andrews advised our JAGA Directory is on our web site and ‘Thank You’
letters from our scholarship recipients will be posted there also. President
Haws introduced Andy Pazder, Director of Administration for the PGA Tour, as our
guest speaker.
Andy spoke to us about orientation for Rookie Golfers on the Big Tour.
This included the rules to get into tournaments, ground rules for
tournament exemptions, standard eligibility, disciplinary action, penalties,
fines, and etiquette. Parings
