10:00 a.m.
We had a moment of silence for Homer Nix, who passed away
March 14, 2003
. Homer was recognized for all he had done for JAGA over the years. He
will surely be missed by all who knew him. Flowers were ordered and sent
to the funeral home.
The donation of $500.00 by Hidden Hills to JAGA
was omitted from the minutes of the previous meeting.
Jerry Kay
reported that we have $6,864.68 in the bank and that as of today 10 clubs
still have not paid their dues.
Jim Andrews
reported that our next meeting will be held at
Quail
Heights
and the May meeting will be at
Pine
Lakes
. Lee Crowe reported on the first annual “Bill Black Scholarship Fund
Golf Championship” presented by JAGA. This will be held
October 4, 2003
. Lee also informed us that we now have new trophies for our Senior
Tournament. Sawgrass so far has the most entrants. We have a total of 30
seniors and 23 super-seniors. Bill Black reported that we have 2 entries
for the Mid-Amateur so far. Barney Poston said he has 2 entries for the
Father’s Day Tournament. Both of these tournaments are a ways off.
Ed Witten said we had 28 scholars in the fall but
now there are only 20. Three didn’t make their grades, one is going part
time and two dropped out. Seven will graduate this spring.
The following donations were made: Cimarrone - $2,127.80; Sawgrass
- $7,425.00 (from all the members);
Plantation
- $2,330.00; and Orange Park Men’s Association - $365.00.
Committee Reports:
Ways and Means

sponsorships for future tournaments, and the fee system we currently have.
Rules and
Handicap – JAGA stands ready to help if any of the clubs request
assistance.
Junior Golf –
Most clubs have their own Junior Golf programs. We will continue to
support First Tee in both Duval and
St. Johns
counties any way we can.
Scholarships –
Asked that everybody think of ways to raise money for our Scholarship
Fund.
Tournaments –
Clubs must be members of JAGA for their members to be eligible to play in
JAGA events.
