 Minutes of the Director's Meeting at Eagle Harbor Golf Club

 November 18, 2003

 

 

The meeting was opened by President Don Haws at 10:30 a.m.  Introductions of the 36 Directors present followed.

 

Secretary Mike Cooper -- A motion was made and passed to accept the October minutes.

 

Treasurer Jerry Kay -- JAGA has $5397.27 in the bank with all bills paid.  Two new members, Royal St Augustine and First Coast Golf Association, were announced.

 

VP Administration, Jim Andrews -- Discussed the meeting sites for 2004, mentioning they are available on our website.

 

VP Tournaments, Lee Crowe -- Mixed has 21 entries and will be held the weekend of 11/22, Bob Cuartero, chair.  The first event of 2004 is the Seniors, Eagle Harbor, April 4-6.  Hidden Hills will host the Fathers Day; Jax Beach the Juniors; 2-Man @ Julington Creek; The Bill Black Tournament on 9/13 (Monday) at Ponte Vedra; Pro-President at Deercreek.

 

Scholarships, Tom Tierney -- North Florida Sports Foundation donated $1000 to be used for a scholarship to Lake City.  The family of Darren Scott, a promising young golfer who died in an automobile accident, donated $2000.

 

Old business -- Barney Poston requested that each Director send the e-mail address of his club manager so that minutes may be sent.

 

Committee Reports:

 

Tournament -- We need more Directors involved in chairing our tournaments.

 

Ways & Means -- Suggested that each event participant

receive a tee gift that defines JAGA to help publicize us.

 

Scholarships -- Discussed sending a letter to each Director describing how different clubs go about raising money for the scholarship fund.

 

Junior golf -- no report.

 

Rules -- Discussed how we could assist clubs in starting a handicap committee
