JAGA MINUTES,
OCTOBER 20, 2003

The meeting was called to order by President Don Haws at
10:30 AM
. Today’s host Directors
were Frank Powell and Arch Copeland (absent).
The host Pro was David Leininger.
Introductions included 3 guests – Messrs Kory
Williams, Ian Nicoll and John Randall.
Secretary Mike Cooper was absent and the Minutes
from the preceding meeting were not read.
Treasurer Jerry Kay announced that the balance is
$4,238.97, with no bills outstanding.
Vice President, Administration, Jim Andrews stated
that the next meeting will be held at
Eagle
Harbor
on November 18. He continued
that the meeting schedule for 2004 is complete.
Vice President, Tournaments, Lee Crowe reported on
the recently completed Bill Black Trounament from which the Scholarship
Fund netted $4,100. Bill
Black commended Lee for a job well done – the attending Directors
applauded Lee’s fine effort.
Bob Cuartero announced that the forms for the Fall
Mixed have been mailed; he asked for entrants for the event, stating
that he was in the midst of planning a dinner on the 2d night following
the tournament. Bob is also
looking for sponsors.
Old business – Ed Witten: new
Director shirts are in. Barney
Poston commented on the new website and asked the Directors to provide
the e-mail address for their respective General Manager/Owner.
New business – John Randall’s First Coast Golf
Association applied for
membership as a club in JAGA. Providing
John nominates two Directors and pays the $150 yearly dues, the
Executive Board approved the membership and welcomed John into JAGA.
John indicated that he will donate $.25/player in each of his
tournaments to the JAGA Scholarship Fund.
Kory Williams of Palmer Course Design was our
speaker. He reviewed the
many steps involved in taking a piece of land and turning it into a golf
course. His discussion was
well received.
Jim Edwards announced the pairings and the meeting
was adjourned.
