DIRECTOR’S MEETING
AUGUST 20,

President Bart O’Leary
called the meeting to order at
10:20 a.m.
There were 38 members and
guests present. Other officers present were Vice President Don Haws,
Executive Secretary Bill Black, Secretary
Lee Crowe
, Treasurer Jerry Kay, Vice
President of Tournaments Jim Andrews and Scholarships Ed Witten. Host
Kevin Bacon, Director of Golf, welcomed JAGA.
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read. Treasurer’s
report: we have $14,684.05 minus outstanding bills. This report was
accepted as read. Don Haws announced that the meeting in September will
be held at Fernandina Beach Golf Club and at Marsh Creek Country Club in
October. Ed Witten reported that we have 19 paid scholarships and 27
students at the present time.
Homer Nix
and Chris Blocker from the Hyde Park Men’s Golf Association presented
a check in the amount of $3,000.00 to the Scholarship Fund from the
Memorial Golf Tournament held at Hyde Park Country Club. Bart gave
results on the JAGA Hilyer championship. The JAGA Junior Championship at
Hyde Park
was very successful. Again there were 76 players.
Mike Young was the overall champion. Jim Andrews gave thanks to all JAGA
directors who helped. Gene Hughson reported another POOR turnout for the
Fall Mixed at Ponce de Leon Golf Club. There were only 22 teams. There
was a lot of discussion about canceling the tournament after this year.
Lee Crowe
reported on the 2-man championship. Bart discussed
the FSGA U.S. amateur coming up. Frank Brough discussed the NSG at the
Ravines. Bart announced all the new committees and their members. The
new committees met separately for 25 minutes and a follow-up 5-minute
discussion period.
We had
lunch, but golf was called off because of rain. All who paid will be
credited at the September meeting.
