DIRECTOR’S MEETING MINUTES
JULY 16,

The meeting
was called to order by President Bart O’Leary at
10:05 a.m.
Other officers present were Vice President Don
Haws, Vice President of Tournaments Jim
Andrews, Secretary
Lee Crowe
, Executive
Secretary Bill Black and Scholarships Ed Witten. Treasurer Jerry Kay was not in
attendance. There were 48 members and guests present. Assistant Pro David Tatge
welcomed JAGA to Selva Marina. The Secretary’s minutes were accepted as read.
Lee Crowe
gave a “special thanks” to Homer Nix’s
secretary, Mary Carroll, for getting the meeting notice and minutes to Barney
Poston to enter on the web site and e-mail to those with e-mail addresses. Don
Haws announced that the August 20th meeting will be held at
Palm
Coast
’s Matanzas Woods, a great golf course, so we
expect a full slate of directors to be present. The September meeting will be at
Fernandina
Beach
. Jim Andrews reported on the AJGA Tournament. He
gave thanks to all the volunteers who worked, but expressed some concern about
volunteers who did not show up. Bart announced that we had 73 players. Played
for 36 spots in the JAGA Amateur Hillyer Championship. Mike Ellison was Medalist
with a 68. The qualifier was at Deerwood. The 3-day event will be held Friday
July 19th at Deerwood and July 20th & 21st
at Deercreek. Jim spoke about the Mixed 2-Ball to be held at Ponce de Leon on
August 24th & 25th.

spoke about the 2-Man on September 19th
& 20th. Also the JAGA Junior will be held at
Hyde
Park
on August
10th & 11th. Dean Blankenship gave special thanks to
JAGA directors for all their help with balls and equipment that was donated to
Junior Golf and First Tee.
Old business: Ed Witten spoke about the Florida Vanity Golf license tags now
available. A special thanks to Bill Tyler from
Deerfield
Lakes
who headed up everything. Bart mentioned that all
new committees will be formed in August. Jerry Wood, President of Mill Cove Mens’
Association, announced they were having a special golf event on September 11th.
Call Mill Cove for more information. This will be held on September 7th
beginning at
8:30
a.m.
On July
27th, the annual Memorial Tournament at
Hyde
Park
will be
held to raise money for the JAGA scholarship fund. For further information,
contact Homer Nix at 634-1707.
Our guest speaker was Tom Dudley, who is the General Chairman for the 2002 USGA
Senior Amateur at Timuquana Country Club. Tom spoke about the FSGA and the
upcoming Senior Amateur at Timuquana. We had a good question and answer session.
Charlie Hoenstine announced golf pairings and the meeting adjourned for lunch at
11:30 a.m.
