DIRECTOR’S MEETING

JACKSONVILLE BEACH GOLF CLUB

TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 2002

 

The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m. by Bart O’Leary, President. Other officers present were Don Haws, Vice President of Administration; Jim Andrews, Vice President of Tournaments; Bill Black, Executive Secretary; Lee Crowe, Secretary; Jerry Kay, Treasurer; and Ed Witten, Scholarships. There were 50 directors and guests present who were introduced at the beginning of the meeting. Boots Farley, Head Pro & Director of Golf, welcomed JAGA to Jacksonville Beach .

Tom Johnston, Hyde Park Director, has been transferred to Tandem Rehab Center , 1215 Kingsley Avenue , Orange Park , FL 32073 . The telephone number is 269-8922. He is undergoing treatment at this time.  Any calls or cards would be welcome. OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU, TOM.

Jerry Kay, Treasurer, said that we have $5,684.08 in the bank. He also said that four clubs paid their dues this month. This leaves about twelve that still have not paid. The Directors need to ask their clubs to pay their past due dues. Don Haws was back from having hip replacement surgery and seemed to be doing well. WELCOME BACK, DON. Next meeting will be held May 21 at Royal St. Augustine. Also, the trustees will meet at 9:30 a.m. that morning before the regular meeting. Jim Andrews, Vice President of Tournaments, gave his report on tournaments. Warren Healey reported that the Seniors Tournament at Eagle Harbour was very successful. There were 82 players. There was a check for $616.00 for the Scholarship Fund. Mitch Bryan won the Scratch Division and Jim Marks won the Net Division. Jim Edwards, Chairman of the Spring Mixed Two-ball reported that he has 20 teams so far, but needs a lot more. The tournament runs April 27th and 28th. Bill Black reported on the Mid-Am at Magnolia Point, May 3rd & 4th. We have 24 entries for this one and need lots more. Barney Poston, Chairman of the Fathers’ Day Tournament, reported June 8th & 9th at Ponte Vedra will have a 1:30 p.m. start each day. We need all clubs’ E-mail addresses. Ed Witten, Scholarships, reported that Scholarship Day will be at the July meeting at Selva Marina. Sawgrass gave $7,755.00 to the Scholarship Fund and Orange Park gave $420.00. We still need golf equipment for the Juniors. Bart O’Leary had questionnaires for directors to fill out concerning club participation. He also spoke about the possibility of an earlier starting time for meetings that would include more substance than we presently have. Jim Edwards announced golf pairings and the meeting adjourned at 11:40 for lunch.
