DIRECTOR’S MEETING

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS GOLF CLUB

TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 10:30 a.m. by President Bart O’Leary. Officers present were President Bart O’Leary, Vice President of Tournaments Jim Andrews, Executive Secretary Bill Black, Secretary Lee Crowe, Treasurer Jerry Kay and Scholarships Ed Witten. There were 46 directors and guests present.

Introduction of the directors followed. Head Pro David Van Verloh welcomed JAGA to Keystone Heights. Ben Walker, President of the Men’s Association, presented a check for $300.00 for the Scholarship Fund.  The Secretary’s report was read and accepted.  Treasurer Jerry Kay said we have $5,196.30 in the bank.  There are l4 clubs that still have not paid their 2002 membership dues. The clubs were named and the directors from those clubs were asked to help get their clubs to pay dues.  Don Haws, Vice President of Administration, is home recovering from hip surgery. We certainly want to wish Don a speedy recovery.  The April 16th meeting will be at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. The May 21st meeting will be at Royal St. Augustine. Warren Healy reported on the Seniors Tournament at Eagle Harbour March 25-27. Bill Black reported the Mid-Am will be May 3rd & 4th at Magnolia Point. Jim Andrews reported on the Spring Mixed at Fernandina Beach April 27th & 28th. The Father’s Day Tournament will be June 8th & 9th at Ponte Vedra, chaired by Barney Poston. Ed Witten, Scholarships, reported there were 3 new scholarship applications. Queens Harbour Men’s Association gave a $1,000.00 check to the Scholarship Fund. Jim Andrews, Vice President of Tournaments, advised that new tournament posters and display units are ready. Dean Blankenship spoke about Junior Golf and is the FSGA Representative for the Jacksonville Area. We need clubs and other accessories for the Junior Golf Program. Jim Demick,  the Executive Director from  FSGA, was introduced as our special speaker by President Bart O’Leary. Jim reported on Junior Golf and the growth of FSGA in Florida. He had a great report about the game of golf in the state of Florida. Meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. for a great bar-b-que lunch. Golf pairings were announced by Jim Edwards.
