DIRECTOR’S MEETING

WINDSOR PARKE GOLF CLUB

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2001

President Bart O’Leary called the meeting to order at 10:30 AM. Officers present were President Bart O’Leary, Vice President Don Haws, Vice President of Tournaments Jim Andrews, Executive Secretary Bill Black, Secretary Lee Crowe, Treasurer Jerry Kay and Ed Witten Scholarships.  A new Director, Bob Mans from The Ravines, was introduced.

Ed Witten gave the scholarship report. There are 26 students on scholarship until next fall. The minutes from the last meeting were accepted as published. Treasurer Jerry Kay gave the financial report. There is $7000.00 on deposit today. The Treasurer’s report was accepted. There were a large number of scholarship fund checks presented as follows: $2550 raffle earnings by Steve Lemley from Lake City, $2000 from Plantation, $500 from Cimarrone, $500 from Mill Cove, $350 from Mike Cooper San Jose, $340 from Orange Park, $300 from Quail Heights, $262.50 from Eagle Harbor, $200 from NAS Jax, $600 from the JAGA Fall Mixed Tournament. A real good day for the JAGA Scholarship fund.

Executive Secretary Bill Black gave a status on the Pro-President Tournament coming up December 3rd at Timuquana. Vice President of Administration Don Haws announced the following Director's meeting schedule for the first three months of 2002: January at Sawgrass; February at The Course at Westland; and March at Keystone Heights.

Vice President of Tournaments Jim Andrews asked for reports on the last 2 tournaments. Lee Crowe, Chairman of the Two-Man Championship, reported that the 2001 tournament was very successful and that the number of entries will be expanded next year. The 2002 Two-Man Championship will be held at Windsor Parke on September 17th & 18th.

Gene Hughson, Chairman of the Fall Mixed Two-Ball, expressed his disappointment at having only 28 teams this year. Gene recommended discontinuing this tournament. The Senior Tournament will be played at Eagle Harbor again in 2002. Jim Andrews mentioned that the poor turn out was reason for concern on continuing the tournament in March. The Mid-Am will be back at Magnolia Point in 2002.  Jim Callender-FSGA gave a report on FSGA and announced things were going well.

Bart O’Leary announced that JAGA has realized a savings of $40 per month by emailing meeting minutes, meeting notices and other JAGA information in lieu of using USPS mail where possible. The membership dues invoices have been mailed to the member clubs for 2002. We now have 43 to 51 member clubs.

President Bart O’Leary introduced Garry Smits, Florida Times Union Sports Editor, as our guest speaker. Garry gave a presentation about golf and the events he has covered in person.

Jim Edwards announced golf pairings and the meeting was adjourned for lunch and golf at 11:40 AM.
