Conditions of Play

FIFTY SECOND ANNUAL SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP

Conducted by the Jacksonville Area Golf Association

 April 6, 7 & 8, 2009

Eagle Harbor Golf Club

Fleming Island, FL

 

Eligibility:      Amateur golfers who have reached their 50th birthday by April 6, 2009 and have an up to date USGA Handicap index are eligible to play in the Senior Division.  This Division will play from the White Tees. ( 6432 yds.)

Entrants in the Super Senior Division must be at least 60 years old by April 7, 2009 and have an up to date USGA Handicap index. This Division will play from the Green Tees. ( 5915 yds.)

Entrants in the Grand Senior Division must be at least 70 years old by April 7, 2009 and have an up to date USGA Handicap index.  This Division will play from the Gold Tees. ( 5438 Yds.)

Entries are subject to rejection by the Tournament Committee at any time subject to entry requirements and/or unbecoming conduct.

  

Schedule:     A stroke play competition over 54 holes for the Senior Division
and 36 holes for the Super Senior and Grand Senior Division players.   

                        The Senior Division will start from the #1 Tee on the first day, from the #10 Tee on the second day and from the #1 Tee on the final day.

The Super Senior and Grand Senior Divisions will start on the #1 Tee on their first day and from # 10 Tee on the final day.

Players in the Senior Division will be paired on days 2 and 3 based on scores posted, with the leading players starting last.

Players will be paired on the 2nd day in the Super and Grand Seniors Divisions based on prior days performances, leaders will be last.

The JAGA Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter the schedule when it is in the best interest of the Tournament.
 

Ties:            In the event of a tie for the low gross score posted in a respective divisions championship, a sudden death playoff, beginning at hole #1, will be conducted immediately after all scores are posted, to determine the winner(s) only. 

 

All other ties will be broken as follows:

        Gross prizes:       1st tie breaker - lowest gross last 18 holes     then                  2nd tie breaker - lowest gross holes 10-18 then                  3rd tie breaker - lowest gross holes 13-18 then                  4th tie breaker - lowest gross holes 16-18

         Net prizes:               1st tie breaker - lowest net last 18 holes then                                2nd tie breaker - lowest net last holes 10-18       using ½ handicap then      
                           3rd tie breaker - lowest net last holes 13-18 using 1/3 handicap then          
                           4th tie breaker - lowest net last holes 16-18 using 1/6 handicap

                        If ties are still not broken, a coin toss will be used to determine winners.  The Committee Chairman will toss the coin.
 

Rules:            Play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Decisions will be made by the JAGA \Rules Committee whose decision shall be final. 

                        Eagle Harbor Golf Club will provide “Local Rules for Competition”. 

                        Carts must be used. Player may not have a caddie or a cart driver. 

                        Distance/ Range finders will be permitted.

 

Prizes:          An entrant must have an up to date USGA Handicap index from a USGA licensed golf club in order to “qualify“ for awards and/or prizes.

The winner of the Senior Division will receive custody of the
Frank Rogers Trophy for one year.
 

                        The Division winners will each receive a permanent trophy.

Both gross and net prizes will be awarded with the number and amounts of gift certificates to be determined by the number of entries in the respective divisions.  All gift certificates must be redeemed for merchandise in the Eagle Harbor Pro Shop.
 

The trophy and certificate presentations will be made on Wednesday as soon a possible after all scores are posted.  There will be a slight delay if there are playoffs to complete.

 

Awards Lunch:     An awards luncheon, for all, is included on Wednesday.
