CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION
JAGA Father's Day Championship
Hidden Hills Country Club 1:30 PM shotgun start each day Eligibility: Entries are open to teams consisting of any father playing with a son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, great grandson/great granddaughter, step-son/step-daughter, son-in-law/daughter-in-law, nephew/niece. Both partners must have an up-to-date USGA handicap index. Fathers are limited to one partner. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the tournament) by JAGA. Flighting: Competitors will be flighted into two Divisions. 1. Amateur Division – Both members of the team are amateurs. 2. Professional Division – At least one member of the team, either father or partner, is a member of the Professional Golf Association of America, Ladies Professional Golf Association of America or has declared himself/herself as a “professional.” Note: Should there be fewer than four (4) teams in the Professional Division, it will be merged into the top Amateur Division. Teams with a professional member are not eligible to win the Championship Cup. Professionals are always paid any winnings in cash. Amateurs are always paid in merchandise prizes. Handicaps: Divisions may be further divided into flights based on a combined USGA Handicap (handicap indexes will be used to break ties for flight purposes) determined by using recommended USGA Handicap allowances. In the Amateur Division each team's handicap will be the sum of 60% of the handicap of the lowest handicap partner and 40% of the handicap of the highest handicap partner. In the Professional Division each team's handicap will be the 40% of the handicap of any amateur partner. Handicaps may be adjusted by the Tournament Committee based on previous years Father's Day Championship scores. Places; Ties: The competition will be conducted over two days with the 36 hole net scores being used to determine the winners. In the event of a tie for any position, winners will be determined by matching scorecards to determine the best net score for the last completed round, then the last nine holes (back nine, holes 10-18) net using one half the team handicap. If this does not produce a winner, a coin toss will used to break the tie. Format: Play will be Modified Pinehurst, Stroke Play Format as follows: On each hole the team will play as partners each playing from their assigned teeing ground and each playing his/her partner’s ball for the second stroke. After the second stroke, the partners select the ball with which they wish to score and play that ball alternately to completion of the hole. For example: If player "A" made the chosen second shot, then player "B" will take the third shot from that position. Each ball may be stroked twice, not counting penalties, before the selection of which ball the team chooses to score. Out of bounds; Lost ball; Provisional ball: If a player hits a ball that is lost or out of bounds (or one that is potentially lost or out of bounds) the player's partner will take the next stroke (or provisional) for that ball from the original point (stroke and distance). e.g. Partner A drives out of bounds from the white tees, Partner B hits the next drive from the white tees. Note: Partner B has played the second stroke but the ball lies three due to the penalty. Ball in hazard: Relief for a ball in a lateral hazard is in accordance with USGA rules. e.g. Partner A hits a ball into a lateral hazard and relief is taken with penalty. Partner B strokes the ball next after adding the applicable penalty stroke. Tees: Males 12 years old and younger, males 70 years old and older with a handicap index over 24.9, males 80 years old and up, and females will utilize the red tees. Other amateurs will utilize the white tees. Professionals will use the blue tees. Preferred lies: If a
player's ball lies on a closely-mown area through the green the player may
mark, lift and clean or replace his ball without penalty. Before lifting,
he must mark the position of the ball. The player must then place the ball
on a spot within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it
originally lay. Pairings: The first day of play, pairings will be made up of teams within flights except where odd numbers of team exist and 'preferred' pairings will be honored when requested and to the extent possible. The second day of play the pairings will be by positions within each flight with the tie breaker rules being used when applicable. Once again, odd numbers of teams in flights will be compensated for as best as possible with preference being given to the higher ranking teams within a flight. Scoring: Scores must be recorded on the official score card provided by JAGA. A player shall record the score of the fellow competitor after the play of each hole. It is recommended that each player record his own score as well, on the bottom tear away section of the score card. This section is used to double check the score card at the scoring table. Score cards shall be returned to the scoring table immediately following play. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded within flights and will consist of merchandise certificates, for amateurs, redeemable at the Hidden Hills CC golf shop. Prizes for professionals will be paid by check or cash. The JAGA Father's Day Championship Cup is awarded to the amateur team with the lowest total gross score.
