ENTRY APPLICATION INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITY:

All entrants in the Net Divisions must have a current handicap index from a USGA Handicap Certified and licensed club.

Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the championship) by the committee. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

 

SCHEDULE:

The competition will be 18 holes, four-ball stroke play, held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at  Jacksonville Golf & Country Club with a shotgun start beginning at 9:00 A.M.

 

FORMAT:

Two-man four-ball format shall be each partner plays his own ball with the better score of the pair on each hole being the team score.

 

FLIGHTING:

The competition will be conducted in three divisions as follows:

Regular Division – Gross and handicap, played from Gold tees at 6616 yards, slope 134,course rating 71.0; gross competition must be played from Gold tees by both partners. Handicap competition elder partner may elect to play White tees if age 55-64 or Green tees if age 65 or older. Handicap allowance will be reduced by difference in Course ratings if election to move up is exercised. Stroke allocation table shall be same as Gold tee table.

Senior Net Division – Gross and handicap, played from White tees at 6216 yards, slope120, course rating 69.3; note youngest partner must be age 55-64.  Elder partner may elect to play Green tees if age 65 or older. Handicap allowance will be reduced by difference in Course ratings if election to move up is exercised. Stroke allocation table shall be same as White tee table.

Super Senior Net Division – Gross and handicap, played from Green tees at 5601 yards, slope 116, course rating 66.9; note both partners must be 65 or older to play in this Division. Stroke allocation table shall be same as Green tee table.

 

HANDICAP ALLOWANCES:

Net Division allowances: handicap allowance to be 90% of Course Handicap. Allowances shall be rounded up or down to the nearest whole number (.5 or more is rounded upward).

If age of elder partner permits moving up to shorter tees and election is exercised allowance shall be reduced by rounded difference (.5 or more is rounded upward) in course ratings.

Note: If (after allowance) the Course Handicaps of members of a team differ by more than eight strokes, an additional 10 percent reduction will be applied to the Course Handicap of each member of that team.

  

JAGA TWO MAN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS:

The Two Man Championship will be determined by a final tournament of champions. All three divisions will have a champion team both gross and net. Each division’s first and second place finishers both gross and net in the 2009 season plus all teams that play every event will be eligible to compete for the championship at the Slammer and Squire in December, 2009. The championship tournament will have a magnified prize purse. All qualified participants who enter will receive an award to commemorate that achievement.

 

PLACES; TIES:

Lowest scorers for 18 holes will be the Division winners. Ties for all places will be decided by lowest back nine score (10-18), then lowest last six holes score (13-18), then lowest last three holes score (16-18), then coin flip by committee.

 

ENTRIES:

All players shall apply on JAGA forms obtained from JAGA Member Clubs, this web site, Golf News, or Tournament Chairman. Reproductions are acceptable. Entry fee of $170.00 shall accompany the entry form with all pertinent information supplied. All entries must be received by the closing date of November 19, 2009.

In the event of withdrawal, entry fee will be refunded if the Tournament Chairman is notified before the closing date. After the closing date the entry fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness at the discretion of the Tournament Chairman.

 

RULES OF GOLF; CLOSE OF COMPETITION:

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the U.S.G.A. and modified by the Local Rules. Questions will be settled by the Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final. The competition shall be deemed to have closed when all prizes have been awarded.

 

DOUBT AS TO PROPER PROCEDURE:

Please note Rule 3-3 is to be followed precisely if the player is in doubt as to the proper procedure and wishes to play a second ball.

 

GOLF EQUIPMENT AND GOLF BALLS:

Only golf equipment approved by the U.S.G.A. will be allowed.

Only brands of balls on the most current U.S.G.A. list of conforming golf balls may be used.

 

TIME OF STARTING:

The optional condition for time of starting prescribed in Appendix I, Part C, paragraph 2 of the U.S.G.A. Rules of Golf shall be in effect.
