JACKSONVILLE AREA JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP CONDUCTED BY JACKSONVILLE AREA GOLF ASSOCIATION JUNE 27 & 28, 2006 JACKSONVILLE BEACH GOLF CLUB CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION ELIGIBILITY: Entries are open to amateur junior golfers. They must be 18 or younger as of August 1, 2006. They must compete in their age category or as modified in the Flighting Section of these conditions. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the championship) by the committee. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. SCHEDULE: The competition will be 36 holes, at stroke play, held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 27 and 28, 2006 at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club with starting times beginning at 8:00 A.M. FLIGHTING: The competition will be conducted in four flights for the championship as follows: 1. 17-18 years old 2. 15-16 years old 3. 13-14 years old 4. 12 and under If there are sufficient entries (at least 8) received by June 1, 2006 for this category there will be a separate novice flight for players under 10 years of age who will compete for 18 holes, at stroke play nine holes per day. If there are sufficient entries (at least 8) received by June 1, 2006 for this category there will be a separate girls championship who will compete for 36 holes, at stroke play. PLACES; TIES: Lowest scorers for 36 holes will be the flight champion. In the event of a tie, the champion will be decided immediately by a hole by hole playoff. All playoffs will begin at hole #1. Ties for all other places will be decided by final round score card match using the complete final round, back nine, front nine, last six, middle six, first six, three hole groupings beginning at the last three, then hole by hole regression from hole #18. If any ties remain, the committee will decide by lot. SPECTATORS: Spectators must stay at least 20 yards away from all players and must not assist players in any way. Players receiving advice from spectators will be penalized as appropriate and the spectators may be removed from the course if the proper procedure is not followed. ENTRIES: All players shall apply on JAGA forms obtained from JAGA Member Clubs, web site: jaxareagolfassn.com, Golf News, or Tournament Chairman, Al Levene, 744-1184. Reproductions are acceptable. Entry fee of $75.00 shall accompany the entry form with all pertinent information supplied. All entries must be received by the closing date, June 20, 2006. Entry fee will be refunded if the Tournament Chairman is notified before the closing date. After the closing date the entry fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness at the discretion of the Tournament Chairman. RULES OF GOLF; CLOSE OF COMPETITION: Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the U.S.G.A. and modified by the Local Rules. Questions will be settled by the Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final. The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the Championship Trophy has been presented. DOUBT AS TO PROPER PROCEDURE: A copy of Rule 3-3 is included with the Local Rules sheet provided to each player. GOLF EQUIPMENT AND GOLF BALLS: Only golf equipment approved by the U.S.G.A. will be allowed. Only brands of balls on the most current U.S.G.A. list of conforming golf balls may be used. CADDIES: Players are prohibited from using caddies, pull carts or motorized carts. Players are responsible for carrying their own bag for the competitive round. TIME OF STARTING: The optional condition for time of starting prescribed in Appendix I, Part C, paragraph 2 of the U.S.G.A. Rules of Golf shall be in effect. PRACTICE PRIVILEGES: Practice privileges at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club will be the same as normal conditions of play. Tee times may be obtained from the Golf Staff. PRIZES: Overall champion will receive a trophy. First, Second, Third and Fourth Places in each flight will be awarded a prize. LOCAL RULES: See “Notice to Competitors” to be distributed at registration. INCLEMENT WEATHER: Termination of Play: If conditions warrant termination of play, officials will sound a horn. At that time all players must terminate play, marking the ball position and seek the nearest available shelter. Three short blasts on the horn will signal resumption of play. CONDITIONS; SCHEDULES: The JAGA Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein. The decision of the Tournament Committee in any matter shall be final. PERSONAL APPEARANCE; CONDUCT: Players must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will be penalized as appropriate.
